Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Dear Mira. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
Pricing and payment
Building a biography is free, and no card is required to build. Producing the full documentary film is a one-time charge of $149 (“The Film”), which includes: production of your complete documentary; hosting of the finished film online for one year from production; a year of refinement — the ability to keep revising the film through your first year, funded by the producing balance your purchase provides; and a downloadable master film that is yours to keep. Optional keepsakes, add-ons, and producer-assisted services are priced separately and stated before you buy them. Guided Review includes up to four hours of hands-on producer time; engagements beyond that are quoted separately. Payments are processed by Stripe; prices are in U.S. dollars and may change for future purchases, never retroactively.
Our guarantee
If the finished film doesn’t feel like the person you remember, we’ll make it right: tell us what’s off and we will keep revising with you. If, within 30 days of your purchase, you are still not satisfied after we’ve had a reasonable opportunity to revise, we will refund your $149 in full. Refunds for separately priced keepsakes and services are handled the same way: we fix it first, and refund within 30 days of that purchase if we can’t. This guarantee is the exclusive remedy for dissatisfaction with the film’s quality, and it survives the warranty disclaimer below.
Hosting, renewal, and your export
Each produced film includes one year of hosting. After that year, keeping the film online is $18/yr (or the family plan’s stated price). If you choose not to renew, your film and everything you’ve gathered are never deleted for non-payment: the account first becomes read-only (“resting”), and we warn you by email before anything changes. You can reactivate at any time, and you can request a complete export of your materials and films at any time, free — including after your hosting has lapsed. Your downloadable master film remains yours regardless of hosting status.
Your content
You retain ownership of everything you upload and create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process, and display your content in order to build and host your biography and share it with the people you invite. You are responsible for having the right to upload the photographs, recordings, and stories you contribute.
Your materials and the people in them
When you upload photographs, recordings, documents, or stories — or record a conversation with Mira — you confirm that you have the right to share them, including any permission needed from the people who appear in them, and you consent to your own voice and likeness appearing in the films you help create. Films are shared only with the people you or your family invite.
Biographies of people who have died
If you create a biography of someone who has died, you represent that you are a family member or personal representative with authority to memorialize their story, and that you are not aware of any objection from their estate or immediate family.
Age
Dear Mira accounts and contributions are for adults. You represent that you are at least 18 years old.
Acceptable use
Use Dear Mira to preserve real family and personal histories. Do not use it to impersonate others, infringe rights, or upload unlawful content.
